My last dr appointment.....

So I had my last doctor's appt today! I can't believe he'll be here in less than 48 hours!! I found the 2 pounds that I lost last week and wouldn't you know my blood pressure is creeping back up (who would have thought!). We did a quick ultrasound to make sure that he was indeed head up and ofcourse he was.... he's managed to move his feet from my right side to my left... and his little butt is still on my bladder! We talked about the c-section in detail with the doctor and got a run through of what Wed would be like. My section is set for 7:30 and we have to be there at 5am... which means leaving our house at 3:45AM!!!!!! There will be no sleep on my end Tues! I'm so excited to have 2 of my best friends there that morning with us.... and then of course my daddy will be there about an hour before Zane gets here! And then family and friends will be visiting through out the day and Thursday. We're looking for me to go home Friday morning if everything goes well. I'm so excited I can't stand it.... and still so nervous at the same time. I know the nerves won't even matter once he gets here.... but until then I'll be keeping myself busy to keep my nerves at bay.

39 weeks!!!

First... Happy Birthday to my newest cousin, Kierstyn!! I'll update more when I find out all the details. My cousin, Amanda and I were due within 4 days of each other... me Nov 24 and her Nov 28. Her doctors set her c-section for today though... where mine wouldn't let me go before the 19th! So.. Congrats to my cousins on their new addition!!! He's almost here!!!! It's down to the last few days. I've been doing a lot of cleaning around the house, trying to make sure everything is in order for when we get home. Still have a lot to do this weekend though. Dean's been working long hours with lots of overtime due to the warehouse move, which is nothing but a blessing in disguise because it allows him to be home just short of 2 weeks when Zane gets here. My nerves are starting to get to me. I'm nervous about every little thing.... Will I be able to do this? What if I can't fix something? What if I do something wrong? lol, What if my kid doesn't like me? What was I thinking!?! Anything and everything I'm suddenly worried about.... which I'm told is normal, but I'm starting to get so scared!! Dean is suddenly the expert on everything and not the least bit worried!! Which makes me feel even worse!!! I'm the one who's been around kids and watched kids and played with kids.... way more than Dean... Why isn't he freaking out too!!!!! Anyways.... just had to vent about that.... I'm so glad that Wed morning I will have two of my very close friends there with us and then friends and family to follow through out the day. We're so blessed to have such a great group of friends and family members who care so much. Once Zane arrives I will blogging on a different blog site, it's TheBareFamilyJourney.blogspot.com so make sure to follow us there after the 19th. I should have 2 more posts on here before switching. I'll be updating again on the 17th after my final doctor's appt!!! Onto the book: Your baby weighs a little more than 7 pounds. By this point in your pregnancy, crown-to-rump length is about 14 1/2 inches. The baby's total length is close to 21 1/2 inches. Your baby continues to gain weight, even up to the last week or two of pregnancy. It doesn't have much room to move inside your uterus. At this point, all the organ systems are developed and in place. The last organ to mature is the lungs. Your almost to the end of your pregnancy. Your weight should not increase much from this point. It should remain between 25 and 35 pounds until delivery. It would be unusual for you NOT to be uncomfortable ad feel huge at this time. Your uterus had filled your pelvis and most of your abdomen. It has pushed everything else out of the way. At this point in pregnancy, you may think you'll never want to be pregnant again because you're so uncomfortable. Or you may be sure your family is complete. Dad Tip: Discuss your role in labor and delivery with your partner. Learn what you can do to assist her. You may be able to help maintain privacy. When people visit during or after labor, be sure they don't get too loud or it doesn't become too crowded. Let your partner rest and recuperate; be her knight in shining armor!

dr appointment

ok... doctor appt went well today. Blood pressure is still good and I've lost 2 pounds (that makes it 10 pounds over my pre-pregnancy and a total of 12 pounds gained). umm.... still not dilating so it looks like the 19th unless the little hard head decides other wise. :) Other than that not too much going on. Still having bh contractions, still not sleeping that well and my appetite is decreasing some days because I'm starting to have the sickies again. :( So little man will be here in 8 days and some odd hours!!!! YEAH!!! We went and had some pics done on Sun... I'll be updating again on Friday and I'll post some of them then. Hope everyone is well!

38 weeks!!!

It's almost time... the countdown has begun.... 11 days and some odd hours we'll be holding our little bundle of joy!! :) I'm so excited! Everything is packed and ready to go... his room is set and ready.... and I think that time has stopped! lol! Not much has changed since my last post. I started having limbs poking out my sides yesterday... that was def a new one! Still having those great bh contractions and my leg cramps have decided to re-visit! I've got a couple burst of cleaning mode... but nothing too extreme just yet. On to the book..... At this time, your baby weighs about 6 3/4 pound. Crown-to-rump length hasn't changed much; it's still about 14 inches, total length is around 21 inches. Many women don't grow larger during the last several weeks of pregnancy, but feel very uncomfortable.

Just a quick update.... I'm up another pound since Thurs. My blood pressure is once again normal (120/70)... YEAH!! Meaning that I'm down to 1 appointment a week instead of the 2! Zane is great.... kicking and moving right along.... Mommy is constantly tired and hurting. And just to think exactly 2 weeks from tom we'll be holding little man in our arms :) Unless he decides to come out before then! (HINT HINT ZANE!) Nothing much else to report... my next doctor's appointment is Mon!!

About C-Sections.....

Most women plan on a normal vaginal birth, but Cesarean delivery is always a possibility. With a Cesarean, the baby is delivered through an incision made in the mother's abdominal wall and uterus. Reasons for a Cesarean Delivery. Cesareans are done for many reasons. The most common reason for having a Cesarean is a previous Cesarean deliver. However, some women who have had Cesareans may be able to have a vaginal delivery with later pregnancies. A Cesarean delivery may be necessary if your baby is too big to fit through the birth canal. This condition is call cephalo-pelvic disproportion (CPD). CPD may be suspected during pregnancy, but usually labor must begin before it can be confirmed. A Cesarean may be recommended if an ultrasound shows your baby is very large - 9 1/2 pounds or larger - and may not be easily delivered vaginally. Fetal distress is another reason for a Cesarean delivery. Doctors use fetal monitors during labor to watch the fetal heartbeat and its response to labor. If the heartbeat indicates the baby is having trouble with labor contractions, a Cesarean may be necessary for the baby's well being. If the umbilical cord is compressed, a Cesarean may be necessary. The cord may come into the vagina ahead of the baby's head or the baby can press on part of the cord. This is a dangerous situation because a compressed umbilical cord can cut off the blood supply to the baby. A Cesarean is usually necessary if the baby is in a breech presentation, which means the baby's feet or buttocks enter the birth canal first. Delivering the shoulders and the head after the baby's body may damage the baby's head or neck, especially with a first baby. Placental abruption or placenta previa are also reasons for a Cesarean delivery. If the placenta separates from the uterus before delivery, the baby loses its supply of oxygen and nutrients. Thus us usually diagnosed when a woman has heavy vaginal bleeding. If the placenta blocks the birth canal, the baby cannot be delivered any other way. How is a Cesarean Delivery Performed? You are often awake when a Cesarean is done. An anesthesiologist usually gives you an epidural or spinal anesthetic. If you're awake for the procedure, you may be able to see you baby immediately after delivery. With a Cesarean, an incision is made through the skin of the abdominal wall to the uterus. The wall of the uterus is cut, then the amniotic sac containing the baby and placenta is cut. The baby is removed through the incision. Next, the placenta is removed. The uterus is closed in layers with sutures that absorb and do not have to be removed. The remainder of the abdomen is sewn together with absorbable sutures. Most Cesareans deliveries done today are low-cervical Cesareans or low-transverse Cesareans. This means the incision is made low in the uterus.

37 weeks!! - Happy Halloween!

I can't help but to get quite emotional and start to tear up when I think about the fact that our little man will be here in a matter of 19 days!! We're so blessed to have him and can't wait to meet him! He's def an answer to our prayers. And so... before I start to cry on to what the book has to say about this week! :) Your baby weighs almost 6 1/2 pounds (haha... he's a little bigger than that!) Crown-to-rump length is 14 inches, his total length is around 21 inches. Your baby is continuing to grow and gain weight, even during these last few weeks of pregnancy. As discussed in week 36, the baby's head is usually directed down into the pelvis around this time. However, in about 3% of all pregnancies (I get to be in the 3%, lol!), the baby's bottom or legs come into the pelvis first. This is called a breech presentation, which we will discuss next week. Your total weight gain by this time should be about as high as it will go at 25 to 35 pounds.

doctor's appt.....

Ok... so today was really good! My blood pressure is back to normal, YEAH!!! I've gained a pound since Tues... that puts me 11 pounds over my pre-pregnancy and 13 pounds total gain. They measured Zane and he's actually measuring for 38 weeks! He's about 6lbs and 13oz right now (he's 67% for his size and weight). So he should be around 8 or 9 lbs when he's born :) (no 10 to 12 pound baby, thank God!) Umm.. he did great on the monitor... my contractions are showing a little more intense but they're not to worried about it just yet. I think that's about it.... 37 weeks tom!!!!! Next doctor's appt is Tues :) Hope everyone has a great weekend.... GO GATORS... whip up on those Dawgs :) lol!
